Below are the directions for submitting orders for each of the following machines in the AddLab. Please use the following as the body of the email for your request to ensure the best explanation and understanding of your print requirements.
Parts will begin printing as soon as possible. Once your job has completed printing, the part(s) will be cleaned of support material and you will receive an email to arrange for payment and pickup of your part(s).
1. Printer: Desktop FDM or Desktop SLA(If you would like to request a specific machine for some purpose, please let us know
2. Your name:
3. Purpose of the Print: This should list what class you are creating the part for, (department and course number), what research lab you are creating the part for, and a short description of the part’s intended use
4. Print Parameters.
For FDM, layer height, number of shells, infill percentage and pattern: (eg. 0.2 mm, 2, 5%, Gyroid) – We suggest lower number of shells and infill percentage to reduce print time. We typically print with 2 shells and 5%-10% infill.
For SLA, layer height (eg. 0.1mm)
5. Desired Material and Color: We have some materials in stock, but can also get others that are compatible with the machines we use.
6. STL file(s) name(s), part size(s), and quantities: Please estimate the extents of your part so that we can ensure that it is scaled properly. Provide height, width, and length measurements (including units), not a volume measurement. Please also include the number of parts required for each file.
7. Special instructions: (required orientation, post processing concerns, etc.)
8. May we photograph your part, or create a duplicate as a sample?: (It can be helpful to other people to see a sample of parts used in similar applications)
To have a part printed on the Fortus 450, send an email to print3d@seas.upenn.edu with the subject: “Fortus-PennKey-Source” (where PennKey is the part of your email address before the @ sign and Source is an abbreviation of who/what is the purpose of your print) containing the following:
1. Printer: Fortus
2. Your name:
3. Purpose of the Print: This should list what class you are creating the part for, (department and course number), what research lab you are creating the part for, and a short description of the part’s intended use
4. Print Parameters, layer height, infill type: (eg. 0.010″, sparse) – The Fortus has preset infill parameters, which can be customized if necessary. Including infill orientation, density, and other characteristics.
5. Desired Material and Color (ABS 30, ASA, or Ultem 9085) – Note Our machine is traditionally set for 0.010″ in ASA. For any changes in material or resolution please allow for more lead time.
6. STL file(s) name(s), part size(s), and quantities: Please estimate the extents of your part so that we can ensure that it is scaled properly. Provide height, width, and length measurements (including units), not a volume measurement. Please also include the number of parts required for each file.
7. Special instructions: (required orientation, etc.)
8. May we photograph your part, or create a duplicate as a sample?: (It can be helpful to other people to see a sample of parts used in similar applications)
To have a part printed on the Connex 500, send an email to print3d@seas.upenn.edu with the subject: “Connex-PennKey-Source”(where PennKey is the part of your email address before the @ sign and Source is an abbreviation of who/what is the purpose of your print) containing the following:
1. Printer: Connex
2. Your name:
3. Purpose of the Print: This should list what class you are creating the part for, (department and course number), what research lab you are creating the part for, and a short description of the part’s intended use
4. Print Parameters: Glossy surface finish, or Matte
5. Desired material/color: (eg. VeroBlackPlus, or no preference) Note that changing color on the Objet or Connex requires additional lead time. We will notify you if this is necessary before printing your part.
6. STL file(s) name(s), part size(s), and quantities: Please estimate the extents of your part so that we can ensure that it is scaled properly. Provide height, width, and length measurements (including units), not a volume measurement. Please also include the number of parts required for each file.
7. Special instructions: (required orientation, multimaterial characteristics, etc.)
8. May we photograph your part, or create a duplicate as a sample?: (It can be helpful to other people to see a sample of parts used in similar applications)
1. Printer: ProJet
2. Your name:
3. Purpose of the Print: This should list what class you are creating the part for, (department and course number), what research lab you are creating the part for, and a short description of the part’s intended use
4. Print Parameters layer resolution: (0.004″ or 0.002″)
5. Desired material/color: We are currently only operating the Projet in Visijet Clear material
6. STL file(s) name(s), part size(s), and quantities: Please estimate the extents of your part so that we can ensure that it is scaled properly.
